Soul Shop

This community-oriented program is designed to increase awareness of dangers of suicide and discuss the steps that can be taken to reduce risks. This could be offered to parents, nurses, teachers, and others who might want to learn how to ask the question of suicide, learn about the prevalence of suicide in the community, and get more engaged with how to be a part of the solution. This program is being offered to the community for free.

This is a one-day workshop to equip youth pastors, youth leaders, camp directors, camp counselors, and anyone else who works with young people to minister to those impacted by suicide. Special attention will focus on youth-specific issues of impulsivity, contagion, social media, mandated reporting, and confidentiality. The training includes the creation of worship resources, training in suicide awareness, basic conversation skills, and how to extend the invitation to those who have been suicidal in the past to share their stories. This workshop engages the question of how to cultivate a soul-safe culture within youth ministry. There is a $20 registration fee for this program.
