FOUR Blues Show at Austin Town Hall

November 13, 2025 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

FOUR Blues Inc. NFP, a West Side nonprofit dedicated to reviving old-school blues, soul and R&B music for the benefit of the community, is holding a free all-ages concert at Austin Town Hall, first floor east wing classroom  on Thursday Nov. 13 from 4 to 6 p.m.,  featuring Larry Taylor and the Soul Blues Healers. Arlene Stovall will be a guest R&B singer, and spoken word poets will be invited to speak during the set breaks.  A chicken buffet from Chef Daddy’s will be served.

“Blues music for mental health” will be the theme. Community organizations are welcome to set up information tables. Contact bonni@fourbluesmusic.org

Blues was created by African Americans in the South as a way to share stories and cope with hard times. It came north during the Great Migration and blossomed in tiny clubs and lounges on the West and South Side in Chicago. Blues is the root of all American popular music including jazz, rock, hiphop and country, and is played and respected worldwide.  FOUR Blues (FOUR stands for “Further On Up the Road”) is working to help restore the music as part of an economic revival in blues neighborhoods.

Austin Town Hall Park at 5610 W. Lake St., two blocks north of the Central Green Line station, is home to a Blues and R&B photo exhibit installed earlier this year by Gregg Parker.
